Cultivating Common Ground with Scott Haase

Scott is actively cultivating a common ground between the world of large-scale industrial agriculture and small-scale Permaculture & Agroforestry. His mission is harnessing Nature’s wisdom and power in ways that serve people while restoring the diversity, abundance, and synergies to degraded ecosystems.

He is an incredible voice to speak to both sides in an often polarizing debate on how to effectively produce food, energy & health for our rural Midwestern communities. Listen to his story and journey…

Scott Haase is a sixth-generation farmer from Blue Earth, Minnesota, working with his father and brother at Haase Family Farms, which produces corn and soybeans using conventional farming methods. On the home front, Scott also farms his 10-acre homestead, Blue Dirt Farm, where he raises Pasture & woodland-raised Mangalitza pigs, foraging poultry and waterfowl, perennial crops.
He is passionate about soil building strategies that can be integrated on both the small & large scale to protect the health of the land, soil & local Blue Earth River watershed running right through his own backyard. He focuses on cultivating this ‘common ground’ through speaking, hosting tours, and sharing practical skills focused on harnessing the power of nature!
